Ingredients
- 4 tubes biscuits
- 1 1/4 cubes margarine
- 1 1/3 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- raisins and nuts
- 2 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 c. water (approximate)
- cooking oil (for frying)
Directions

1Sift together flour, baking powder and salt and cut in shortening with two knives or pastry blender until mixture resembles coarse meal.

2Add enough water to make a soft dough. Knead on lightly floured board until smooth and elastic.

3Pinch off enough dough to make 1 1/2-inch balls.

4Roll or slap back and forth from hand to hand until each ball is flat 4-inch round.

5Fry in skillet in 1/4-inch deep hot fat at 400° until lightly brown on both sides, turning once.

6Bread becomes puffy as it fries.

7Drain on paper towels.

8Serve hot, plain or with jam, honey or favorite tortilla topping.
