Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 cups rolled oats
  • 2 12 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • salt, pinch
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 ounce) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 12 cups chopped walnuts
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • salt, pinch

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees

    Generously grease 9x13 pan.

    Cream 1 cup butter with sugar in a large bowl.

    Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.

    Mix in oats, flour, vanilla, baking soda and salt.

    Stir in 1 cup walnuts and set aside.

    Combine milk and chocolate in top of double boiler set over hot water and stir until chocolate melts.

    Add remaining ingredients and blend well.

    Spoon 2/3 of the oat mixture into prepared pan, compacting with a fork.

    Spread chocolate mixture over top.

    Crumble remaining oat mixture and chocolate and spread with a fork.

    Bake until golden, 25 to 30 minutes.
