- 5 cups apple cider
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1/4 cup brown sugar lightly packed
- 4 whole cloves
- 1 1/2 inch cinnamon sticks
- 1 1/2 inch ginger root dry
- 1 x nutmeg freshly grated
Directions

1Combine the cider, lemon juice and brown sugar in a stainless steel pot.

2Heat the mixture slowly to the simmering point.

3Meanwhile, tie the cloves, cinnamon stick and ginger root together in a piece of cheesecloth.

4Add the bag of spices to the simmering liquid and heat over low heat for 15 minutes.

5Remove the spice bag.

6Serve hot with a sprinkling of nutmeg in mugs.

7Yields 6 servings.
