- 1 lb. cubed beef
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 can tomato soup
- 2 soup cans water
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 3 potatoes, cut in 4 pieces
- 2 onions, cut in 4 pieces
Directions

1Melt shortening in heavy saucepan.

2Brown meat over medium heat.

3Add 1 can tomato soup and 2 soup cans water.

4Cover and let cook slowly until tender, about 1 hour.

5Add 3 carrots, sliced, 3 potatoes, cut in 4 pieces and 2 onions cut into 4 pieces. Cover and continue cooking slowly until tender.

6If there is not enough liquid, add more water during cooking.

7If stew is too thin, remove lid and cook until thickened.
