7 ingredients
19 steps

Ingredients

  • 14 slice Thinly sliced pork loin
  • 7 pieces Individually wrapped Processed cheese
  • 1 dash Sake
  • 1 Plain flour
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 Coarsely ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 tbsp each Soy sauce, mirin, sugar, sake

Directions

  1. 1
This is the cheese I always use.
  2. 2
Cut each cheese cube in half lengthwise.
  3. 3
You can use any cheese you like, of course.
  4. 4
    Start rolling the pork.
  5. 5
Spread it out with your hands, and lay the cheese on the wide edge of the slice.
  6. 6
Fold the edges in as you roll the pork, to cover the cheese.
  7. 7
    Dust the rolls with flour.
  8. 8
Heat oil in a pan, and start cooking the rolls seam side down.
  9. 9
When that side is browned, roll them around to brown all over.
  10. 10
I also cook the ends of the rolls sometimes.
  11. 11
Sprinkle sake, cover with a lid, and cook through completely.
  12. 12
(When the cheese is leaking out of the ends a bit, they're done.)
  13. 13
When the rolls are browned all over, add soy sauce to season.
  14. 14
    Done.
  15. 15
    Add black pepper to taste.
  16. 16
To season the rolls with teriyaki sauce, combine the seasonings beforehand, and add to the pan when the meat is browned.
  17. 17
Roll the rolls around in the sauce until they're glossy and well seasoned.
  18. 18
I put them in my eldest daughter's bento for a field trip.
  19. 19
I diced the cheese and wrapped with thin strips of meat (it's next to the edamame on a pick).
