- 2 c. plain cornmeal
- 1 c. self-rising flour
- 1 level tsp. baking soda
- 1/3 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar (heaping)
- 2 eggs
- buttermilk
- 1/4 c. cooking oil or bacon grease
Directions

1Combine dry ingredients.

2Add buttermilk until a little more than pasty.

3Put in eggs and oil; mix well.

4Pour into a medium size iron skillet that has been oiled and placed in oven to heat. Bake at 425°.

5Check at 20 minutes.
