Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 c. celery, chopped
  • 4 to 5 c. cornbread, crumbled
  • 2 c. dried bread crumbs
  • 3 (14 1/2 oz. each) cans chicken broth
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. poultry seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp. sage

Directions

    Saute onion and celery in butter or margarine.

    Remove from heat.

    Add cornbread and bread crumbs.

    Add egg and seasonings. Add broth.

    Mixture will be watery.

    Pour into 9 x 13-inch casserole dish and bake at 400° for 45 minutes or until top is brown and dressing doesn't wiggle when shaken.

    Don't overcook. Tastes even better rewarmed.
