  • 1 pound dried navy beans
  • 2 Quarts water
  • 1 meaty ham bone or 2 hocks
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 garlic salt or 2 cloves of chopped garlic
  • 1/4 teas. Dried marjoram
  • dash pepper
  • 1 up of chopped celery
  • 1 cup chopped carrot
  • 1/2 to 1 teas. salt
