  • 3 c. sugar
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 3/4 c. corn syrup (white)
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 egg whites, beaten stiff
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3/4 c. nuts (optional)

Directions

  1. 1
    Mix sugar, water, syrup and salt together.
  2. 2
    Cook rapidly to soft ball stage (238°).
  3. 3
    Pour 1/3 over beaten egg whites and beat. Continue cooking remaining syrup to hard ball stage (270°).
  4. 4
    Pour over egg mixture, beating constantly until solid enough to drop on wax paper and it stays put.
