- 1/4 C sugar
- 1/8 C shortening
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1 pint boiling water
- 2 pkgs. yeast
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 6 1/4 C flour
Directions

1Mix first 4 ingredients and allow to cool to lukewarm. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water and add to the first mixture. Mix in flour. Work down with a spoon every 10 minutes for an hour. Then divide the dough into 2 parts and roll each part until it is 1/2 inch thick and roll up like a jelly roll. Let rise until double. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes or until brown.
