- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 3/4 to 1 c. milk
- 1 Tbsp. melted butter
- 2 c. self-rising flour (2 c. all-purpose flour plus 4 tsp. baking powder)
- pinch of salt
Directions

1Beat together egg and sugar.

2Add 3/4 cup milk and butter. Stir together flour and salt.

3Make a well in center and add egg-milk mixture.

4Add up to 1/4 cup more milk, if needed, to make a soft dough.

5Turn out of bowl onto well-floured board and pat flat to about 3/4-inch thickness.

6Using a 1 1/2-inch cutter, cut and place close together on a floured (not greased) baking sheet. Bake at 500° about 10 minutes.

7Makes 15 to 18.
