Ingredients
- 2 gal. whole cucumbers
- 1 pt. canning salt
- 1 gal. water
- 2 tsp. alum
- 2 1/2 qt. vinegar
- 8 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. celery seed
Directions

1Clean the cucumbers and place in a large glass or crock container.

2Mix 1 gallon water and the salt and pour over the cucumbers.

3Let stand one week.

4Pour off the liquid and split the cukes.

5Pour boiling water over the cukes to cover.

6Let stand 24 hours and then pour off liquid.

7Cover with more boiling water and add alum.
-
8After 24 hours, pour off.
-
9Heat remaining ingredients and pour over cucumbers.

10Heat this liquid for three mornings and pour over cukes.

11After the third day, place the pickles in sterilized jars and pour heated liquid over them and seal.
