  • 5 large cucumbers, washed (not peeled)
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp. pickling salt or canning salt
  • 1 tsp. celery seed
  • 1 onion, sliced and cut in half
  • 1 green pepper, cut in strips
  • 1 chopped carrot (optional)

Directions

    Layer cucumbers, onion, pepper and carrot in large gallon jar with a good lid.

    Add sugar, vinegar and spice.

    Shake well and refrigerate.

    Shake once each day for the next 4 to 5 days.

    Will keep months in fridge (if not eaten first).
