- 1/2 c. cold water
- 1 Tbsp. cornstarch
- 2 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 egg whites
- 5 Tbsp. sugar
Directions

1Combine cornstarch, 2 tablespoons sugar and water.

2Cook until mixture thickens.

3Set aside to cool.

4Beat egg whites until stiff; add 5 tablespoons sugar gradually.

5Continue beating until very stiff.

6Add the cooked mixture (which must be cold) beating well.

7Add a few drops of vanilla.

8Pile on pie and bake at 350° for 15 to 20 minutes.

9Open door, let pie remain in oven a few minutes longer before removing to cool.

10This helps prevent the meringue from falling.
