- 2 c. flour
- 1 3/4 tsp. baking powder
- 3/4 tsp. salt
- 1 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 3/4 c. milk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 1 c. finely chopped black walnuts or nuts of choice
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350°.

2Have shortening at room temperature. Grease and flour loaf pan or muffin tins.

3Sift flour before measuring.

4Mash shortening and sift in dry ingredients.

5Add vanilla and 3/4 milk.

6Mix until flour is dampened, then beat 2 minutes.

7Add remaining milk and eggs.

8Beat 1 minute.

9Add nuts and bake 1 hour for loaf pan or 20 to 30 minutes for muffin tins.
