- 1 3/4 c. granulated sugar
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Crisco or spry
- 3/4 c. milk
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 4 eggs, unbeaten
- 2 c. finely chopped nuts
Directions

1Have milk, eggs and shortening at room temperature.

2Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into large bowl.

3Drop in shortening; pour in milk, vanilla and 2 of the eggs.

4Beat 300 brisk round-the-bowl strokes with spoon or 2 minutes on medium speed with electric mixer.

5Add remaining 2 eggs; fold in nuts. Turn into tube pan and bake at 375° for 1 hour or until done. Cool in pan on rack 10 or 15 minutes.

6Remove from pan; cool. Glaze if desired.
