Ingredients

  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast or 1 cake compressed yeast
  • 4 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 c. butter
  • 4 eggs

Directions

    Have all ingredients at room temperature.

    In small saucepan heat milk to lukewarm (105° to 115°).

    Stir in sugar and yeast. Let stand 10 minutes until bubbly.

    Measure flour into large bowl. Add butter; cut in with pastry blender or 2 knives used scissor/fashion until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

    Stir in yeast mixture and egg yolks; knead until dough is smooth.

    Shape into a ball.

    Set aside.

    Grease 2 large cookie sheets.
