  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg if you grind your own, it's even better
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice butterFew drops

  • applesauce

Directions

    In a medium saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch, salt and nutmeg. Add boiling water. Over medium heat, stir until thickened and clear.

    Remove from heat and stir in butter and lemon juice.

    Serve hot over cake squares in small sauce dishes.
