- 1 cup raw oats
- 6 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 fresh yeast cake
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 12 cup molasses
- 12 cup luke warm water
- 2 cups boiling water
Directions

1Pour boiling water over oats, molasses, shortening and salt.

2Cool to lukewarm.

3Dissolve yeast in the 1/2 cup lukewarm water and add to the first mixture.

4Work in all the flour and knead until smooth.

5Place in greased bowl, cover and let rise one hour.

6Divide dough in half, shape loaves and place in greased loaf pans.

7Let rise until doubled in bulk.

8Bake at 350 degrees one hour.

9Makes 2 loaves.
