- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1 c. brown sugar, packed
- 1 c. white sugar
- 2 unbeaten eggs
- 1 1/3 c. flour
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. Mother's oats (quick cooking)
- 1 1/4 c. boiling water
Directions

1Beat together the shortening, sugars and eggs.

2Sift the flour, cinnamon, soda and salt.

3Add oats.

4Add dry ingredients and boiling water to first mixture and mix.

5(This batter will be very thin, but it thickens as it bakes.)

6Bake in a 350° oven for 40 minutes in a greased 8-inch pan.
