Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. quick oats
  • 1/2 c. shortening
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/3 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/4 stick oleo
  • 1/2 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 c. milk
  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla
  • 1/2 c. coconut
  • 1/2 c. pecans

Directions

    Pour boiling water over oats and let stand 20 minutes.

    Add oats to next 9 ingredients and beat together until well mixed. Bake in a greased and floured pan at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes. Remove from oven.

    Boil oleo, brown sugar, milk and vanilla for 3 minutes.

    Add coconut and pecans.

    Spread over hot cake.

    Return to broiler until lightly browned.
