  • 1 c. oats
  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 1 c. granulated sugar
  • 1/2 c. light brown sugar
  • 1/2 c. Crisco oil
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/2 c. chopped pecans

    Add boiling water to oats in a small bowl, let stand 15 minutes.

    Blend sugar, oil and eggs thoroughly.

    Stir in oatmeal. Stir in nuts.

    Spread in a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.

    Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes until cake tests done with a toothpick. Immediately spread with frosting and broil 3 to 5 minutes until lightly browned.
