Ingredients

  • 1 c. oatmeal
  • 2 c. boiling water
  • 3 Tbsp. butter or oleo
  • 2/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp. granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/3 c. warm water
  • 5 c. flour

Directions

    Cook and cool to lukewarm the oatmeal in the boiling water and butter.

    In large mixing bowl, mix all remaining ingredients.

    Add lukewarm oatmeal to ingredients in large mixing bowl, then add 5 cups to oatmeal and yeast mixture.

    Knead; let rise to about twice its size.

    Form into rolls or loaves.

    Let rise again.

    Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes.

    Makes about 30 dinner rolls. Delicious hot or cold!
