Old Fashioned Cream Pie

  • 12 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups half-and-half (cannot use 2% milk)
  • 14 cup cornstarch
  • 1 pie crust, prepared (baked)
  • nutmeg

    Melt butter in double boiler.

    Mix in sugar into butter.

    Mix 1/4 cup of half and half with cornstarch.

    Add remaining half and half to double boiler butter/sugar mix.

    Stir in half and half/cornstarch into the butter/sugar/half and half combination.

    Heat over med-low heat, stirring constantly until thickens.

    Pour into baked pie shell, lightly sprinkle with nutmeg (for garnish).

    Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.

    Refrigerate.

    FOR MICROWAVE - mix ingredients together in safe bowl, microwave for 10 minutes, stirring at 2 minute intervals until thick.

    Pour into prepared shell, sprinkle with nutmeg and bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
