6 ingredients
6 steps
Ingredients
- 2 qt. popped corn
- 1 c. light or dark corn syrup
- 1 tsp. white vinegar
- 1 c. firmly packed dark brown sugar
- 1/4 c. water
- 2 Tbsp. margarine
Directions
-
1Place popcorn in large bowl or pan.
-
2In heavy 2-quart saucepan, stir together corn syrup, vinegar, sugar and water. Stirring constantly, cook over medium heat until mixture boils. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until temperature reaches 265° on candy thermometer, or until small amount of mixture dropped into very cold water forms a ball which is hard enough to hold its shape, yet elastic.
-
3Remove from heat; stir in margarine.
-
4Slowly pour over popcorn, stirring with a long handled spoon.
-
5When cool enough to handle, yet still quite warm, quickly shape into balls. Wrap each individually in plastic wrap.
-
6Makes about ten 3-inch balls.
