Old Fashioned Soda Crackers

  • 2 c. flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 c. buttermilk
  • 3/4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1/4 c. butter or margarine

Directions

    In a medium bowl, combine flour, soda and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. With pastry blender or 2 knives, cut in butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs.

    Add buttermilk and stir with a fork until well combined.

    Knead into a ball.

    Preheat oven to 350°.

    On a lightly floured board, roll out dough 1/8-inch thick.

    With a floured 3-inch round cutter, cut into crackers.

    Lightly grease several baking sheets.

    Prick tops several times with the tines of a fork.

    Sprinkle with some of the remaining salt.

    Bake until lightly browned on edges, about 15 to 20 minutes.

    Cool baked crackers completely on wire rack.
