  • 1 c. butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 c. granulated sugar
  • 3/4 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 5 c. flour, sifted
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1/3 c. buttermilk
  • 1/3 c. orange juice (about)

Directions

    Cream butter and sugars in bowl until light and fluffy.

    Add beaten eggs; beat well.

    Sift dry ingredients together except soda. Dissolve soda in milk.

    Add to creamed mixture alternately with dry ingredients, beating well after each addition.

    Stir in enough orange juice to make soft dough.

    Roll to desired thickness on floured surface.

    Cut as desired.

    Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 15 minutes or until light brown.
