  • 3 c. sifted flour
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 4 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 c. raisins or chopped dates
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 1/4 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. melted shortening

Directions

    Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into bowl; add walnuts and raisins or dates.

    To egg, add milk and melted shortening.

    Beat into flour mixture.

    Bake at 350° in a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan for 60 to 70 minutes or until done when tested.
