- 3 c. sifted flour
- 1 c. sugar
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 c. chopped walnuts
- 1 c. raisins or chopped dates
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 1/4 c. milk
- 2 Tbsp. melted shortening
Directions

1Sift flour, sugar, baking powder and salt into bowl; add walnuts and raisins or dates.

2To egg, add milk and melted shortening.

3Beat into flour mixture.

4Bake at 350° in a greased 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan for 60 to 70 minutes or until done when tested.
