  • 1 (9-inch) pastry double pie crust
  • 1/3 c. sugar
  • 1/3 c. brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 6 c. peeled, sliced cooking apples (2 lb.)
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine

Directions

    Line a 9-inch pie pan with pastry.

    Mix sugar, salt, flour, butter, brown sugar, lemon juice and cinnamon.

    Fill pie shell. Lay apple slices flat.

    Dot with butter.

    Roll out top crust and cut slits in several places for steam to escape.

    Moisten edges of crust with cold water and adjust top crust on pie.

    Pinch two crusts together to make a tight seal around pie.

    Bake at 450° for 15 minutes.

    Reduce heat and bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes. Serve warm.
