- 2 lb. beef chuck, cut in 1 1/2-inch cubes
- 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 clove garlic
- 1 medium onion, sliced
- 1 or 2 bay leaves
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 1/2 tsp. paprika
- dash of allspice
- 6 carrots, quartered
- 4 potatoes, quartered
- 1 lb. small white onions
Directions

1Brown meat in small amount of oil.

2Add 2 cups water and next 9 ingredients.

3Simmer 1 1/2 hours.

4Remove bay and garlic.

5Add vegetables, cover and cook until vegetables are tender.

6Thicken liquid with flour, if desired.
