Ingredients

  • 2 lb. beef, cubed
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 4 c. boiling water
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 1 Tbsp. lemon juice
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • bay leaf
  • dash of allspice
  • 4 to 6 potatoes
  • 4 to 6 carrots
  • 1 lb. small white onions
  • 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/2 c. cold water

Directions

    Brown beef in oil.

    Add water, salt, lemon juice, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, pepper, paprika, bay leaf and allspice. Simmer 2 hours.

    Add potatoes, carrots and onions. Cook until vegetables are tender.

    Thicken gravy with flour mixed in water.
