- 4 eggs
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 2 c. molasses
- 3/4 c. vegetable shortening (at room temperature)
- 3 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking soda
- 2 tsp. ground ginger
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 c. sour milk or buttermilk
Directions

1Beat eggs; beat in sugar, molasses and shortening.

2Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately to egg mixture with the milk.

3Pour into large black skillet and bake at 300° until done or pour into a 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan that has been greased and floured and bake approximately 45 minutes or until tests done.
