One Bowl Dinner Rolls

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 to 3 1/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 pkg. active dry yeast
  • 5 Tbsp. softened margarine
  • 2/3 c. very hot tap water
  • 1 egg (room temperature)

Directions

    In large bowl mix 3/4 cup flour, sugar, salt and yeast.

    Add softened margarine; gradually add hot water to dry ingredients and beat for 2 minutes at medium speed.

    Add egg and 1/2 cup flour or enough flour to make thick batter.

    Beat at high speed 2 minutes, scraping bowl.

    Stir in enough additional flour to make a soft dough.

    Turn out onto lightly floured board.

    Knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes.

    Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top.

    Cover.

    Let rise in a warm place until double in bulk, about 1 hour.
