- 2 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 1 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 3 1/2 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 egg, well beaten
- melted butter
Directions

1Add shortening, salt, sugar and yeast to lukewarm water.

2Add flour and baking powder.

3Make a soft dough.

4Knead until smooth on well floured board.

5Roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut with a 2-inch cutter.

6Place on well-greased baking sheet.

7Let rise in a warm place until ready to bake.

8Bake at 400° about 20 minutes. Makes 24.

9Brush with melted butter.
