- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 1/2 c. warm buttermilk
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. melted shortening
- 1 tsp. salt
- 4 1/2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in warm water.

2Add milk, sugar, shortening and salt.

3Stir in flour which has been sifted with soda.

4Mix well. Allow to stand 10 minutes.

5Roll out and cut or shape as desired. Allow to rise until double in bulk, about 30 minutes.

6Bake at 425° for 10 to 12 minutes.

7Yields 24 rolls.
