Ingredients
- 1 c. warm water
- 1 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 medium onion, sliced thin or chopped
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in water and sugar; let rest 5 minutes.

2Add shortening, salt and 1 cup flour.

3Let rest again for 5 minutes. Then add rest of flour.

4Knead about 10 minutes.

5Let rise until double.

6Grease jelly roll pan (not oil).

7Roll out; stretch dough into pan.

8Poke holes; brush dough with oil.

9Spread onion around. Salt and pepper lightly.

10Rosemary leaves are optional.

11Let rise 20 minutes.

12Bake at 375° for 20 to 25 minutes.

13Cut into 3 x 3-inch squares.
