- 4 c. thinly sliced onions
- 1 clove garlic
- 1/4 c. butter
- 8 c. water
- 14 beef bouillon cubes
- 6 slices French bread, buttered and toasted
- 6 slices Swiss cheese
Directions

1In large saucepan, cook onions and garlic in butter until golden brown.

2Add water and bouillon; bring to a boil.

3Reduce heat, cover and simmer 30 minutes to blend flavors.

4Place soup in 6 ovenproof soup bowls.

5Top each serving with a bread slice and cheese.

6Broil until cheese melts.
