Onion Soup

- 4 or 5 large onions, peeled and sliced
- 3/4 stick butter
- 2 cans water
- 3 cans consomme
- 1/2 tsp. pepper
- 2 Tbsp. flour
- bread
- cheese
Directions

1Saute onions in butter; put in kettle and add water.

2Cook until tender.

3Add consomme, pepper and flour (mix flour with a little stock). Simmer 30 minutes.

4Place a piece of hard bread (can use toasted French or Italian bread) in a bowl; top with a slice of Swiss cheese.

5Pour hot soup over this; also if you wish, use shredded cheese and spread over hot soup before serving.

6Makes 4 - 6 servings.
