- 4 Tbsp. butter
- 4 c. thinly sliced onion
- 1 1/2 Tbsp. flour
- 4 c. chicken broth (i.e. bouillon cubes)
- 2 c. dry wine
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp. white pepper
- grated Swiss cheese
Directions

1Melt butter in saucepan; saute the onions over low heat until brown. Blend in flour; add broth, wine, salt and pepper, mixing steadily to the boiling point. Cover loosely. Decrease heat. Cook for 25 minutes. Serve with Swiss cheese and French bread or croutons.
