  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
  • 2 lb. (7 c.) thinly sliced onions
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 2 qt. beef stock
  • 1 box garlic and onion croutons (optional)
  • 1 c. grated Swiss cheese (optional)

    In a large pot melt butter with oil.

    Stir in onions and salt. Cook uncovered over low

    heat 20 minutes or until brown. Sprinkle onions with flour. Stir
