Orange-Cream Dessert

  • 1 tsp. shredded orange peel
  • 1 1/2 c. orange juice
  • 1/2 c. sugar
  • 1 prepared 10-inch sponge cake
  • 1 c. whipping cream
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. shredded orange peel
  • 1 c. dairy sour cream

Directions

    Combine 1 teaspoon peel, 1/2 cup orange juice and 1/2 cup sugar.

    Heat and stir until sugar dissolves.

    Add 1 cup orange juice; cool.

    Drizzle over top, bottom and sides of cake.

    Combine whipping cream with 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon orange peel. Beat until stiff peaks form.

    Fold into the sour cream until blended.

    Spread evenly over top and sides of cake.

    Chill several hours.

    (Sour cream in the frosting gives an unusual tang.)
