Orange Slice Cake

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 3 1/2 c. self-rising flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 box raisins or dates
  • 1 lb. orange candy slices
  • 1 tsp. grated orange peel
  • 2 c. pecans
  • 8 oz. coconut
  • 1 c. orange juice (to pour over top)

    Cream

    sugar.

    Add eggs, one at a time. Add buttermilk and flour alternately. Fold in nuts, coconut and fruit, that has been chopped fine and dusted with 1/2 cup of the flour.

    Cook at 325° for 2 hours and 15 minutes.

    the oven and while hot, pour 1 cup of orange juice and 1/2

    sugar (which has been heated) over top of the cake. Let stand in pan until it is cold.
