- 1 cup margarine
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3 1/2 cups plain flour
- 1 box chopped dates
- 1 lb. chopped candy orange slices
- 1 can angel flaked coconut
- 2 cups chopped nuts
- dash of salt
Directions

1Cream margarine and sugar, add eggs one at a time, beating well.

2Dissolve soda in buttermilk.

3Add flour alternately with buttermilk to creamed mixture.

4Roll nuts, candy, and dates in a little extra flour.

5Add coconut to the floured mixture and roll all this to batter.

6Bake in greased and floured tube pan in 250° oven for 2 1/2 hours.

7Pour topping over cake while it is still warm.

8Let set 8 to 10 hours before serving.
