  • 1 lb. Brock candy slices
  • 1 lb. dates
  • 2 c. pecans
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 4 eggs

    Cut candy, dates and nuts into small pieces.

    Leave cut up overnight in pan.

    Sift 2 cups flour over mixture.

    Cream butter and sugar with eggs.

    Add soda, remaining flour and buttermilk to butter and sugar mixture.

    Pour over fruit mixture.

    Mix well and bake 2 1/2 hours at 275°.

    While hot, mix 2 cups brown sugar with 1 cup frozen or fresh orange juice and pour over cake.
