  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 c. margarine
  • 4 eggs
  • 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking soda (dissolve in milk)
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 1 (8 oz.) box dates, chopped
  • 2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1 lb. orange slice candy, cut up
  • 1 can coconut
  • 1/2 c. flour (for nuts, candy, dates and coconut)

Directions

    Roll nuts, candy, dates and coconut in 1/2 cup of flour. Cream margarine and sugar; add salt to flour.

    Add flour alternately with milk to creamed mixture.

    Add nuts, etc. mixture to batter.

    Cook in well-greased and floured 10-inch tube pan (or 2 loaf pans) at 250° for 2 1/2 hours or cake shrinks from side of pan.
