  • 1 c. margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 c. chopped nuts
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk
  • 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 1 lb. chopped dates
  • 1 lb. chopped orange slice candy
  • 2 c. powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 c. flaked coconut
  • 1 c. fresh orange juice

Directions

    Cream margarine and sugar until smooth. Add eggs, one at a time. Beat well after each. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to creamed mixture. Place flour and coconut to cream mix. Makes a very stiff dough. Mix by hand. Put in greased and floured tube pan. Bake at 250° for 2 1/2 to 3 hours.
