  • 1 c. butter or 2 sticks margarine
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 c. cake flour or plain flour
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • pinch salt
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 1/3 c. buttermilk
  • 1 lb. dates (chopped)
  • 1 lb. orange slice candy (chopped)
  • 2 c. nuts (chopped)

Directions

  1. 1
    Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time. Add buttermilk and soda; mix well. In a separate container, mix flour with candy, dates and nuts, then add creamed mixture. Bake in greased and floured tube pan 2 1/2 hours at 275 degrees.
