  • 8 assorted apples
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup apple cider
  • 12 cup sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 tablespoons apple brandy (optional) or 2 tablespoons pear brandy (optional)

Directions

    Peel and core apples; cut into big chunks.

    Place in a medium saucepan and toss with lemon juice.

    Add cider, sugar, and cinnamon; bring to a boil.

    Reduce to a simmer and cook until tender, about 15 minutes.

    Let cool 20 minutes.

    Discard cinnamon.
