Ingredients

  • 2 lb. round steak
  • 2 Tbsp. fat
  • 1/3 c. soy sauce
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • 3 carrots, cut in thin strips
  • 2 green peppers, cut in 1-inch cubes
  • 2 green onions, cut in 1-inch cubes
  • 1/2 lb. mushrooms, halved
  • 1 (8 oz.) water chestnuts, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 c. water

Directions

    Cut steak in 1-inch strips (1/8 x 3-inches).

    Brown in heavy skillet; add water to browned steak.

    Combine other ingredients and add to pan, except cornstarch.

    Cover tightly and cook slowly for 45 minutes until meat is tender.

    Thicken with cornstarch.
