Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lb. round or sirloin steak, cut into strips
  • 1/4 c. olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 c. green pepper, cut in strips
  • 1 c. slivered celery
  • 2 cans consomme
  • 3 tsp. soy sauce
  • 3 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 3/4 c. water
  • 3 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tsp. sugar

Directions

    Brown beef in olive oil and add garlic and cook until garlic turns yellow.

    Add salt, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce and water.

    Cook 1/2 hour covered.

    Add vegetables and consomme; cover and cook 5 minutes at high heat.

    Stir in cornstarch and sugar, mixed with a little water to thicken slightly.

    Serve over rice. Serves 6.
